Last month in my 27″ Monoprice Zero-G monitor review I found it lacking. While affordable it had a couple of serious flaws that kept me from recommending it to people. Monoprice also sent along their higher end model, the IPS Glass Panel Pro, to take a look at. After the earlier review I went into this feeling like I would be disappointed but that is not the case. The 27″ Monoprice IPS Glass Panel Pro is a very nice monitor and one that is worth looking at.
The most serious issue, that the brightness control does not function correctly, is not present in the Monoprice IPS Glass Panel Pro. It doesn’t get as dim as you might want it to for serious work, but it does better than the Zero-G display does. What it does do right is have good grayscale and color accuracy for the price. It also has a full selection of inputs including DVI, HDMI, and DisplayPort. The most impressive part of the Monoprice display is the screen uniformity. While not up to NEC professional levels, it has a center area that is better than most.
Overall if you are in the market for a 27″ IPS WQHD display the Monoprice IPS Glass Panel Pro deserves a look. It has very good performance and is less expentive than most of its rivals. Read the full details at AnandTech for pre- and post-calibration results, input lag, power use, and more.
